Mai Jeremaya stars in ‘rape’ movie titled ‘PaLodge’ sparking heated debate

HARARE – In a move that has sent tongues wagging again, socialite Mai Jeremaya has starred in a movie some of whose events seem to mirror her recent rape ordeal which saw her two alleged attackers acquitted.

The film, suggestively titled PaLodge, was produced by Naiza Boom Films and has already been released on YouTube, garnering over 75,000 views in its first day on the platform.

One of the scenes in the film seems to be a close reenactment of Mai Jeremaya’s alleged rape, as it depicts her in the clutches of three men who have just violated her.

In the flick, the three men ask each other if they are all satisfied before a seemingly heartbroken Mai Jeremaya interjects and asks for money so she can go home.

The men then abruptly ask her to keep quiet while bragging about how they are not afraid of sleeping with a woman without protection because they are not infected with any viruses.

Two Harare men Thabo Dube and Martin Charlie, were recently acquitted of raping the socialite after a magistrate said the State’s case was too weak for a reasonable court to convict.

“From a clear analysis, the complainant’s evidence is unsatisfactory. I conclude so because in the present case, both accused gave their own explanation, which was not rebutted by the state.

“Inconsistencies fly in the face of the complainant’s evidence. On the other hand, the accused have remained consistent that the encounter was consensual.

“The complainant gave three different and inconsistent statements to the police. She told the court that she was told to change her statement by one of the police but the state did not call that police officer to testify,” said the magistrate.
