Marry Mubaiwa rubbishes Shingi Kawondera’s claims about Ginimbi fraud
HARARE – Marry Mubaiwa has dismissed claims made by her ex-husband, Shingi Kawondera, that she collaborated with the late Genius “Ginimbi” Kadungure to defraud him of some of his assets.
In a rare interview with Yvonne Mangunda on the DJ Ollah Podcast last week, the ex-Zimbabwean football international claimed that his one-time wife had worked with Ginimbi to swindle him of some of the earnings he made during his time as an active player.
In the interview, Kawondera said he had given financial backing to Ginimbi at the genesis of his gas business and had even been listed as one of its directors.

Kawondera claimed that Ginimbi faked signatures and officially took over the company without his knowledge.
“So akanofojera ma signature angu ndobva achinja ndokubva azviita director wecompany. Then he ran from me ndokubva aenda kuma powerful people. I couldn’t do anything,” said Kawondera.
In an interview with ZimEye, Mubaiwa said Kawondera should seek legal recourse if he felt that Ginimbi and herself had cheated him.
“If he has grievances, he should go to court. Some of Genius’s properties still exist. He can approach the estate and make a formal claim,” she said.
“He’s accusing the Registrar of Companies of fraud because all company changes are signed off by them. If his signature was forged, where’s the evidence?”
Mubaiwa dismissed claims that they co-owned a boutique in Eastlea, another claim made by Kawondera.
“That company was mine, and it was in honor of my sister. Everyone knows La Shell was a travel and tour company, not a boutique,” she clarified.
Mubaiwa said she was disturbed by the fact that Kawondera was still talking about her when their relationship had long ended.
“Why is he only talking about me? He was married before, married after. Why am I the only one he’s talking about? Is he looking for attention? For relevance?”
