Jah Prayzah mourns fans who died enroute to his concert in Canada

HARARE – Award-winning Zimbabwean musician Jah Prayzah has been left devastated by the deaths of two fans who died in a tragic car accident while on their way to attend one of his concerts in Canada.

Anotida Kimberly Maziriri and Edmore Mafuwe passed away on Saturday, July 11, while en route to a performance in Edmonton — the first of two Canadian shows on Jah Prayzah’s Ndini Mukudzeyi World Tour.

In a heartfelt statement shared on social media, the musician expressed deep sorrow over the news.

Ndarwadziwa zvikuru neshoko randafumira kugamuchira,” he wrote.

“I have learnt of the passing of two young fans of mine, Anotida Maziriri and Edmore Mafuwe, who lost their lives in a tragic car accident while on their way to one of our shows in Canada. They had travelled far, simply to share a few hours of music and connection with us.

“To think they never made it to that moment hurts in a way I cannot explain. Ndirikurwadziwa nekuchema pamwechete nemhuri dzavo (I am pained and mourning together with their families).

“A journey that was planned to create only good memories became a journey that only left us with grief.”

The Chiremerera hitmaker said he would take time to personally visit the grieving families and offer his condolences.

“To their families: may you be comforted. Ndinonamatira nyaradzo inobva kuna Mwari panguva ino yakaoma (I pray for God’s comfort during this difficult time).

“When we return to Zimbabwe, I will also personally pass by and extend my condolences. Mweya yavo ngaizorore murugare (May their souls rest in peace).”

In the wake of the tragedy, the families of the deceased have launched GoFundMe campaigns to raise funds for the repatriation of their bodies to Zimbabwe.

The Maziriri family posted a tribute titled “In Loving Memory of Anotida,” describing her as “a bright light” in their lives.

“We are heartbroken to share that our beloved daughter, sister, friend Anotida Kimberly Maziriri tragically passed away in a car accident on the night of July 11th, 2025.

“Anotida was kind, loving, and deeply cherished. This sudden loss has left our family devastated. We’re raising funds to help cover funeral costs and ease the financial burden during this difficult time.

“Any support is deeply appreciated. Thank you for your love, prayers, and kindness.”

The Mafuwe family echoed similar sentiments in their own appeal.

“We are deeply saddened to share that Edmore Mafuwe tragically passed away in a car accident on July 11. We are raising funds to return his body to Zimbabwe so his family can lay him to rest with dignity. ny contribution, big or small, will help us bring Edmore home.

“Thank you for your support and prayers during this difficult time.”

The tragic incident has cast a shadow over Jah Prayzah’s world tour, which had been a celebration of musical connection across continents.
