HARARE – Former foreign affairs minister Walter Mzembi will be released on Monday and all charges against him dropped under a secret deal he negotiated with President Emmerson Mnangagwa, Nehanda Radio can exclusively report.

Mzembi formerly in exile in Zambia, went back to Zimbabwe last week and reportedly met President Mnangagwa at State House in Harare, although some sources later claimed they only spoke over the phone.

A source who spoke to Nehanda Radio said Mzembi had returned to Zambia before returning to the country on Friday after a phone call with Mnangagwa.

The former Masvingo South MP was then arrested on Friday and appeared in court on Saturday as prosecutors revealed he had three outstanding arrest warrants.

This meant the man who served as Tourism Minister and then Foreign Affairs Minister under the government of the late President Robert Mugabe, spent the weekend in jail.

His lawyers have argued that did not wilfully default on his criminal abuse of office trial in 2018 but was in fact undergoing treatment in South Africa.

But Nehanda Radio has now been told the charges will be dropped and Mzembi will be a free man on Monday.

Hopefully the nation will be told about the private deal in the near future. No one should be above the law/Constitution. The President as a Constituinst will certainly oversee that accountability and transparency prevails

Obvious, part of the secret deal will be to
"show us where Geza is hidden,…
"Persuade for us the big fish Prof moyo to come back home…."
These are the biggest targets than Mzembi to worry about.😃😃😃

Naturally there is totally nothing to celebrate about, as always justice favors the rich bt for the poor , chikurubi becomes a permanent home, the prediction makes sense since the home coming of Mzembi only surfaced after a meeting at state house.Concluding about a secret pact can not be ruled out, these people are untouchables. Prisons are meant for the opposition in http://Zimbabwe.bt the change shall bring proper treatment to all Zimbabweans. No animal is bigger than the other.Political maturity was never in the books of the so called second republic.
After a political fall out . Reconciliation must precede all avenues after a struggle bt doing it secretly without proper treatment of other people brings no good constitutional governance.
We can not celebrate this stage managed court appearance as it is just a springboard to grant Mzembi freedom based on a mockery court appearance.
Health records are there, Mzembi is enjoying good treatment as we speak unlike what happens to the opposition guys.

Wasn’t this so obvious from the beginning? The dude went to see his godfather and was told he would be briefly arrested, to fool the public, but will be released almost immediately. They have turned Zimbabwe into a circus.
