DURBAN – Controversial South African businesswoman Shauwn Mkhize has broken her silence on her troubled business empire, saying she had healed from the ordeal that saw her football club, Royal AM FC, put up for potential auction.
Popularly known as MaMkhize, the businesswoman has been silent on social media since releasing a statement on January 8 addressing the nonpayment of players at the club she bought her son, Andile Mpisane, for his 19th birthday.
In March, the SA Revenue Service (Sars) curator issued a public notice announcing the soccer club will be auctioned off in a bid to recoup a reported R40m tax debt owed by owner MaMkhize.
In an Instagram post, MaMkhize revealed that her situation has taught her about who deserves a seat at her table and those who will never sit again.
“My side of the story doesn’t matter anymore. Life happened, it hurt, I healed. But most importantly, I learned who deserves a seat at my table and who will never seat again,” she wrote.
MaMkhize’s problems started in 2024 after the KZN Local Division of the High Court granted a preservation order and a search seizure warrant in the case involving the Commissioner of SARS versus Mam’Mkhize and others late in 2024.
A few weeks ago, her team Royal AM FC was placed at auction by SARS curator Jaco Venter.
