Disgruntled Magaya wants to stop ZIFA elections, seeks relief from High Court

HARARE – Prophet Walter Magaya’s attempt to stop the January 25 Zimbabwe Football Association (ZIFA) executive election set to be held at Rainbow Towers in Harare following his High Court application is far from over.

It comes after High Court Judge Tawanda Chitapi, deferred the case to Friday, ruling that the application deserves to be treated as an urgent matter.

A disgruntled Magaya wants to put a stop to a ZIFA executive committee election, seeking help from the High Court.

This follows his disqualification after from the race after failing to pass the ZIFA Electoral Committee’s eligibility test due to alleged pending court cases and his conviction in the Aguma medication case.

Consequently, Magaya is challenging the verdict hence seeking help from the High Court.

He applied on Friday through his lawyer Everson Chatambudza of Chatambudza and Rubaya Legal Practitioners.

Reads a notice from his lawyers: “Take notice that the above urgent chamber application for interdict will be heard and determined by the High Court of Zimbabwe at Harare before Honourable Mr. Justice Chitapi T on Tuesday the 14th of January 2025 at 0900 or soon thereafter as counsel may be heard.’’

Apart from the High Court application, the Yadah FC president also took the matter to the Court of Arbitration of Sport (CAS).
