Aspiring ZIFA presidents as well as vice presidents and board members on Wednesday, submitted their nomination papers ahead of the upcoming elections scheduled for 25 January next year.
Following submission of their papers, the prospective candidates now await for the much anticipated vetting.
Also known as the eligibility test, the process will be conducted by the ZIFA electoral committee in the coming 12 days.
This will determine the final shortlist of candidates set to contest to become members of the 11 ZIFA Executive Committee.

Announcement of the final shortlist is set to be done on the 23rd of December.
To pass the eligibility test, the aspiring presidential candidates must be holders of five O levels.
Furthermore, they must not have been previously convicted or sentenced for any criminal offence and must be at least 40 years old.
Of the 11 ZIFA Executive Committee members, three (including the vice president) should be women.
Ten aspiring presidential candidates submitted their nomination papers before Wednesday’s deadline day.
These include Prophet Walter Magaya, Benjani Mwaruwari, Nqobile Magwizi, Martin Kweza, Phillimon Machana, Marshall Gore, Twine Phiri, Farai Jere, Temba Mliswa and Makwinji Soma Phiri.
For aspiring ZIFA male vice president, Kennedy Ndebele, Omega Sibanda, Peter Dube, James Takavada and Gift Banda who made headlines last week for allegedly forging an O level certificate to enable him to contest in the upcoming election, submitted their nomination papers.
For aspiring ZIFA female vice president, Loveness Mukura, Mavis Gumbo, Kapota Joyce, Patience Mutumwa, Winnet Muropa and Beaullah Msarah handed in their nomination papers.
There is a shocking stampede for aspiring ZIFA board members who submitted their nomination papers.
Close to 30 individuals submitted their papers, and these include; Walter Musanhu, Gilbert Saika, Bhekimpilo Nyoni, Kadzombe Kudzai, Zimunya Francis, Andrew Tapela, Sweeny Mushonga, Thomas Marambanyika, Hara Tavengwa, Lupahla Tizirayi, Dube Morgen and Munyonga Nicholas.
Additionally, Malunga Tinashe, Muchena Davison, Sibekiwe Ndlovu, Gwesela Xolisani, Simba Ndoro, Edward Mutukwa, Gwarada Benard, Alois Bunjira, Cuthbert Chitima, Tafadzwa Benza, Cecelia Gambe, Joseph Musariri, Lewis Muzhara, Modern Ngwenya, Harlington Shereni, Norman Matemera,and Sunday Chidzambga are also on the list.
The ZIFA election will be held at the Rainbow Towers Hotel in Harare on the 25th of January 2025.
