ZIFA aspiring president prophet Walter Magaya submits nomination papers
Football enthusiast Prophet Walter Magaya has reportedly thrown his hat into the ring for the Zimbabwe Football Association (ZIFA) presidency ahead of the 25th of January elections set to held in Harare.
Reports suggest the Yadah FC owner who once said he is still weighing his options before deciding to enter the race, has submitted his nomination papers ahead of Tuesday’s deadline.
As it stands, Magaya now awaits the mandatory ZIFA eligibility test to know whether his name will be in the ballot.
Given all candidates have passed the mandatory integrity test, there is likely to be stiff competition in the much anticipated ZIFA elections.
Premier Soccer League (PSL) chairman Farai Jere, NC and Banat director Nqobile Magwizi, ex-Norton legislator Temba Mliswa, former ZIFA board member Philemon Machana, Northern Region Soccer League boss Martin Kweza and Marshall Gore have all expressed interest.
A total of eleven ZIFA executive board members’ positions will be contested in the upcoming elections.
The election will be on 25 January 2025 at the Rainbow Towers in Harare.
