Zimbabwe Warriors star Khama Billiat has congratulated football legend Peter Ndlovu for receiving a brand-new BMW X6M Sport worth US$144 000 from controversial tenderpreneur Wicknell Chivayo.
On Monday, Chivayo gifted Ndlovu a top of the range vehicle as a token of appreciation for his contributions to Zimbabwean football.
Billiat believes the former Sheffield United and Mamelodi Sundowns star deserves the gesture.
“A big congrats to the legend Peter Ndlovu. You deserve this and everything good that always comes your way,” Billiat wrote on X.
While Billiat applauded the gesture, Bulawayo Mayor David Coltart criticised Ndlovu for accepting the gift.
The former Minister of Sports raised concerns about the source of the funds used to purchase the expensive car.
“I am sad that Peter Ndlovu has had to sully his fine name in this way.
“Celebrities have a duty to ask the question – where did the money come from to buy these vehicles,” he wrote.
Chivayo has been at the centre of allegations that he has been corruptly awarded tenders at the Zimbabwe Power Company and Zimbabwe Electoral Commission worth millions at inflated figures.
