The Zimbabwean football fraternity could be headed for another transfer saga barely a year after a similar issue featuring Obriel Chirinda that involved Ngezi Platinum and Harare giants Dynamos.
This time, it is not Chirinda but Tanaka ‘Kante’ Shandirwa who made headlines a few days back after claims he had crossed from CAPS United to bitter rivals Dynamos.
On Monday, H-Metro reported the pint sized midfielder who was on loan at DeMbare from Yadah, had signed a pre-contract agreement with Makepekepe.
This was after the Glamour Boys suspended him for allegedly “displaying disrespect and disdain for leadership” at a time the club’s players were on strike recently.
Shandirwa was then pictured with the CAPS boss Farai Jere and coach Lloyd Chitembwe on Tuesday.
The photo that made rounds on social media, confirmed the signing of the midfielder.
Meanwhile, in a statement issued on Tuesday evening, Shandirwa’s parent club, Yadah dismissed the deal.

The Miracle Boys clarified that Kante is not for sale, and he is in their plans for the next season.
“We have noted with concern the pictures of Caps United owner, Farai Jere, Caps United coach, Lloyd Chitembwe and Tanaka Shandirwa which have gone viral on social media, misleading the general public and the football fraternity that Tanaka Shandirwa has joined Caps United.
“The Yadah administration wishes to inform the public that Tanaka Shandirwa has a running contract with Yadah FC,” they wrote.
“Further to that, Yadah FC wishes to inform the concerned football fraternity that no club has made formal engagement pertaining to Shandirwa’s deal
“Shandirwa is a Yadah FC player who is currently on loan to Dynamos And his contract with Yadah FC still subsists.
“Yadah FC wishes to debunk the notion that Shandirwa is on sale. Shandirwa will be an important cog for Yadah FC next season. Yadah FC is not willing to invite any prospective suitor to the negotiation table,” ends the statement.
Yadah’s move could be influenced by their FIFA ban which prohibits them from registering new players locally and internationally for the next three transfer windows.
This was after they failed to fulfill contractual obligations to three Brazilian players as well as paying a fine of US$82,000 for the termination of the South American trio’s contracts that were set to expire in June 2025.
