Harare football fans are set to witness a double dose of action at the iconic Rufaro Stadium in Mbare this weekend.
This is after the recently opened venue will first host fans for the Harare derby pitting CAPS United and Dynamos.
Thereafter, football lovers will stick around to watch the English Premier League (EPL) finale.
Live broadcast of the EPL title decider will immediately follow the Harare derby pitting the town’s two giants.
Harare Mayor Jacob Mafume told the media on Thursday.
“We are fully preparing for the Harare derby and we also know that in the sporting calendar, this Sunday is going to be an important day in the English Premier League.
“So, what we have done is that we have put TV screens inside Rufaro stadium by the kiosks where just soon after the derby is finished, TVs will be mounted and people can watch the decider of the EPL.
“It means they don’t have to rush out of Rufaro or be caught in the traffic jam trying to catch up with what will be happening the EPL,” revealed Mafume.
The local derby is slated for 3pm while EPL fixtures are set to kick off at around 5:15 pm.
The Harare derby promises to a be a thriller as the capital city will be divided between the Dynamos’ blue army and the CAPS United green army.
But the excitement won’t end with the derby because fans will converge again to rally behind their favorite EPL teams.
Some are likely set to find common ground and root for same EPL teams while some will remain rivals.
It will be more interesting since it will be the title decider on the final day of the EPL season.
The title race is between Manchester City and Arsenal FC who are at the top of the log standings.
