BULAWAYO – Highlanders FC coach Kelvin Kaindu has showered the Bulawayo giant’s left back Archford Faira with praise, saying he is now ‘refined’ enough to play for the Zimbabwe senior national team.
The Zambian expatriate believes Faira has remarkably transformed such that he may now earn himself his first Warriors call up.
In fact, Kaindu suggested the 24-year-old defender who is a vital cog for Bosso is playing to “market himself for better leagues”.
He confidently declared this to the media during a post match interview after his side’s 3-0 thumping of newcomers Chegutu Pirates on Sunday.
“I think if I talk about (Archford) Faira, from the first game or from the first day I saw him at training, I knew we had a player that has a lot of quality.
“With the way he is playing, I think he is marketing himself for better leagues, he is now a national team player,” said Kaindu.
“He has been consistent in all the games that we have played, and even what we are doing at training, you can see him doing it exactly in the game.”
Faira hasn’t received a national team call up yet, if selected he will face stiff competition for the left back position from Divine Lunga, Jordan Zemura and Brendan Galloway.
Faira, has featured in all Highlanders’ games in the 2024 Castle Lager Premier Soccer League campaign.
The Bulawayo giants who are leading the pack have played five matches so far, winning four, drawing one and Faira has been outstanding.
