Golden Girls: Lady Chevrons beat South Africa to clinch gold at Africa Games

The Zimbabwe senior national cricket team, the Lady Chevrons beat South Africa to clinch the inaugural gold medal in cricket at the Africa Games that are being held in Accra, Ghana.

Zimbabwe won the match in the Super Over following a tied scoreline.

Initially, Zimbabwe scored 112 runs in 20 Overs with South Africa posting the same scoreline after the same number of Overs.

In the Super Over, South Africa scored two runs while in their chase, Zimbabwe posted four runs to seal the historic victory to win the gold medal.

Lady Chevrons’ teenage all rounder Kelis Ndhlovu was awarded Player of the Tournament following her top form.

Ndhlovu was instrumental in the final, scoring the crucial winning runs during the Super Over.
