“We went to Civil Protection Unit trying to find means to go to Chimanimani to identify his body but the area is still inaccessible since all the roads and bridges were destroyed.

“They will inform us as soon as they manage to find a way to get his body in Mutare, then from there we (family) will inform you about the funeral arrangements.

“He will be buried in Bocha, his home area,” Lewis said.

Lewis added: “He was a young man who endeavoured to improve his life by committing to his academic work. He brought so much warmth in our family and he has left a huge void in our hearts.”

The UZ Student’s Representative Committee (SRC), vice president Fanuel Kaseke said he was also mobilising other students to attend the funeral.

“We are in the process of mobilizing transport to attend the funeral and the family is yet to inform us of the arrangements.

“We have also as students put up an initiative for donations towards the victims of the Cyclone Idai.”

By last night, the number of confirmed deaths stood at 98 with 217 missing, 102 injured and 42 marooned. H Metro
