After a two-year hiatus, the Solo Fest, a brainchild of Oliver “Tuku” Mtukudzi, returned to offer music lovers the missing wow factor.
Over the years, Nigerian musicians have established themselves on the international music space. Talk of P-Square, Wizkid, Davido, Dbanj, Don Jazzy, Flavour, Timaya and Tekno, to name just a few that have become global icons. Another star from the West African country who has been making waves of late is Mr Eazi, real name Oluwatosin Oluwole Ajibade.
On the local hip-hop scene, Stunner and Mudiwa Hood have been at other’s throats for a while now and when it seemed like they had squashed their beef, last week’s episode at Club Sankayi might just have rekindled the rivalry.
Oliver Mtukudzi turns 66 in a couple of months. A while back he appeared to be slowing down, but the world cannot seem to get enough of the man who matured like fine wine, and today he is selling out venues as far flung as South Africa, Japan and Portugal.
