The eight-time Olympic gold medalist finally got his chance to show what he can do on a football pitch.

Borussia Dortmund boss Peter Stoger believes Usain Bolt “has a lot of work to do” if he wishes to play football professionally.

The Olympic legend was handed a two-day trial by the Bundesliga giants, and trained with the club on Thursday and Friday.

Bolt’s second session with the first team took place in front of a packed out training ground and was live streamed on YouTube.

The Jamaican has made no secret of his ambition to play football professionally after retiring from sprinting, and has often spoken of his desire to play for Manchester United.

But it appears the 31-year-old’s dream is over judging by the Dortmund coach’s comments.

While admitting that the former sprinter does have some talent, Stoger ultimately concluded that Bolt just isn’t cut out for the big leagues.

“It’s all about procedure and movement, but the most important thing is that he had fun,” said the Dortmund manager.

“I think he is talented, but when he wants to play at a higher level, he clearly has a lot of work to do.

“The physique he needs for his other sport is completely different from what he needs for football, but it was really fun for us.

“It was a pleasure for us to meet a guy like him and to work with him.”

Bolt will return to the pitch on June 10 when he captains the World XI in this summer’s Soccer Aid.
