Killer T to drop new album

By Vasco Chaya

Chanter Killer T, whose album Ngoma Ndaimba was arguably the best Zimdancehall album last year, will launch a yet-to-be named 10-track album at Mbare Netball Complex on Saturday.

The album launch, which is being organised by 2 Kings Entertainment, will feature performances by fellow Zimdancehall artistes who include Seh Calaz, Fireman, Tocky Vibes, Kinnah, Dobba Don, Guspy Warrior, Hwindi President, Dadza D, Shinsoman, Celcius, Cello Culture, Jay Cee and Spiderman.

Zimdancehall fans are already speculating on whether the forthcoming album will match Ngoma Ndaimba in terms of lyrical maturity and diversity.

So good was the album that even non-Zimdancehall fans could not resist falling in love with it.

All the songs on the hit-laden album — Maisafanira Kundirega, Kuvhiringa Pattern, Haupore, Takumbofarawo, Vanofanira Kutendwa, Kufamba Naro Bhora, Mundinzwewo, Kumanikidzira Rudo, Ngoma Ndaimba, Zvese Zvandairota, Vanoona Moto, Kukosha Kwechikorobho and Itai Ndione — took turns to top several local charts.

Not surprisingly, the red-hot album was nominated for the Zimdancehall Awards, Zimbabwe Music Awards (Zima) and National Arts Merit Awards (Nama).

There was a deafening furore when the album played second fiddle to Jah Prayzah and Winky D at the Namas and Zimas.

But at the Zimdancehall Awards, Killer T finally got the chance to atone for his failure to land accolades at two of Zimbabwe’s premier awards.

The Mbare-based chanter deservedly walked away with the Best Artist 2016 (Man), Best Album (Ngoma Ndaimba), Best Social Message (Chikorobho) and the Best Collaboration (Vanondibatirana-a duet with Fungisai.)

Chairman, as Killer T is popularly known by his fans, has proved to be one of the most hardworking, consistent and versatile artistes since he launched his career a few years back.

The Kukosha Kwechikorobho hit-maker recently told the Daily News that his growing popularity and success on the local music scene won’t make him ditch Mbare.

“I was born here and I shall die here. This is where I get my inspiration on a daily basis and apart from that I enjoy life in Mbare.

“If I leave Mbare surely I will lose focus when it comes to the way I compose my lyrics,” Killer T said then.

He also added that his music composition is heavily influenced by his personal background. Daily News
