Comrade Mujuru, Deal with your own killers First

Zimbabwe People First President, Comrade Joice Mujuru, has said she wants to resolve the Gukurahundi atrocities perpetrated by Government in the early years of Government. She offered to visit the areas where these atrocities took place.

In one of her addresses to party supporters in the United Kingdom as seen from a video taken from the event, she had been opposed to the violence that her former party perpetrated, but she could not do anything about it because she was young and respected elders and could not go against them.

So, 34 years later, she suddenly matured and said enough is enough, but only after she was fired from the party. Fair enough Dr. Mujuru. We are also happy that you want to tackle the Gukurahundi atrocities. But the Gukurahundi atrocities were not the only atrocities perpetrated on Zimbabweans.

Fortunately, you have some of the perpetrators of atrocities against the democratic forces of Zimbabwe in your own backyard. A local newspaper reports that War veteran, Frank Badza, who used to co-ordinate Zanu PF’s terror campaigns in Gutu West before he defected to ZimPF, publicly admitted at a Zimbabwe People First rally at Zoma business centre that “This was the heart of terror for Masvingo, where opposition activists were not even allowed”. And this was happening between 2000 and 2013.

Comrade Mujuru is best placed to deal with perpetrators of violence from her own party first before she can tackle Gukurahundi. What guarantee can she give to the people of Zimbabwe that the rogue war veterans she crossed the floor with from Zanu PF will not perpetrate violence on other opposition parties.

Can we trust her on this, when we are told some of the officials in her party are spies. Jim Kunaka came and spied and went back to Zanu PF, and today we read that Comrade Mujuru has wielded the axe Brighton Matonga because it has been realised he is spying for Emerson Munangagwa’s Zanu PF faction.

Ok, let’s give Comrade Mujuru the benefit of doubt and say she is genuine – but can we trust Dzikamai Mavhaire who was fired for open corruption? It proves beyond doubt that this Zimbabwe People First could be taking Zimbabweans for a ride. And it is the same corrupt such as Dzikamai Mavhaire who are pushing for her presidency. Shame!
