The man behind the viral ‘Hekanhi Waro Gushungo’ poem speaks out

Exiled human rights defender and democracy activist, Nkosilathi Emmanuel Moyo (29) has come out in the open as the man behind the ‘Hekanhi Waro Gushungo’ poem which has gone viral on social media over the past few days.

Moyo penned this poem on August 30 and already it has spread like a veld fire attracting the attention of thousands of Zimbabweans across the globe.

He told Nehanda Radio that he had written the poem directly addressing the President of Zimbabwe, Robert Mugabe telling him how his insatiable lust for power is costing millions of Zimbabweans who are now wallowing in abject poverty.

“That poem speaks directly to President Robert Mugabe informing him about how his lust for power and ill economic policies crippled Zimbabwe, as a result millions of Zimbabweans are suffering and wallowing in abject poverty because of his misrule,” he said.

Moyo who become famous after sending President Mugabe a prisoners uniform marked ‘Crimes Against Humanity’ on his birthday before fleeing the country is a known writer of political books.

He authored five political books namely Zimbabwe A Revolution Waiting To Happen, Robert Mugabe from Freedom Fighter To The People’s Enemy, The Rise of Grace Mugabe-The Fall of ZANU PF, Everything Is Possible Without ZANU PF and his latest one titled ‘Handbook for Young Revolutionaries’.

“I am looking forward to return to Zimbabwe and continue with my community work in the small mining town of Kwekwe developing and capacitating young people with political aspirations,” Moyo told Nehanda Radio.

He co-founded the Zimbabwe Organization for the Youth in Politics (Z.O.Y.P) a civic organization which he led as the Executive Director before fleeing the country. Nehanda Radio
