Zhakata set to perform hits in Mvurwi

Music icon Leonard Zhakata will on Friday perform his two currently most loved tracks on Radio Zimbabwe Top 20 chat show, at the Shamwari Joe Hotel in the Mashonaland Central town of Mvurwi.

The musician’s Mvurwi fans will get an opportunity to experience the live performance by Zhakata and the Zimbabwe All Stars band.

The two latest tracks Madam Boss and Zvine Mwaka both from his latest album Mutungadzese came first and second place respectively on the Coca Cola sponsored Radio Zimbabwe Top 20 hits last Saturday.

According to a statement released by Zhakata:

“The previous Zhakata album, Zvangu Zvaita, proved critics wrong when it had a total of three songs in the 2014 Coca-Cola Radio Zimbabwe Top 50 hits and the tracks included Donza Makomborero and Dollar boy coming first and second respectively.”

It is said that however many Zimbabweans seem to like Zhakata Zora music for the depth of messages that has been contained in the songs.

Zhakata who seems to have stood the test of time musically has been on tour since the release of his latest album and has since performed in various cities and towns around Zimbabwe including Banket, Beitbridge, Chegutu, Glendale, Guruve, Kadoma, Kwekwe, Marondera, Masvingo and Mt. Darwin.

His performances in Shamva have however attracted large crowds and fans of all backgrounds and ages that have since fallen in love with this new offering.

Zhakata rose to prominence in the early 1990s when he was part of the Maungwe Brothers, working together with his late cousin, Thomas Makion.

He is well known for hits such as Mugove which became a national anthem during its days and continues to be a favourite for his fans at shows to date. Nehanda Radio
