Third gold as Simone Biles wins vault at #Rio2016

Simone Biles of the United States won her third gold medal of the Rio Olympics with a dominant performance in the women’s vault final.

Biles, 19, who is aiming for five golds at these Games, took first place with a 15.966 average from her two vaults.

She has also won gold in the all-around and team competitions, and will now target wins on the beam and the floor.

Russia’s Maria Paseka (15.253) took the silver as Switzerland’s Giulia Steingruber (15.216) won bronze.

Uzbekistan’s Oksana Chusovitina, 41, who was looking to become the oldest gymnast to win an Olympic medal, finished seventh out of eight finalists in her seventh Olympic Games.

Chusovitina won a gold medal at her first Games in Barcelona in 1992 – five years before Biles was born. BBC Sport
