Riot police clash with protesting vendors in Harare – PICTURES
Harare resembled a war zone on Friday after riot police fired teargas to disperse a growing crowd of vendors who were protesting against worsening conditions.
The vendors, led by Sten Zvorwadza, staged a demonstration at Town House. Zvorwadza is the chairperson of the National Vendors Union of Zimbabwe.
According to several reports as riot police drove away with the arrested protestors including Zvorwadza, a large crowd of people demanding their release was dispersed using tear gas.
Last month Zvorwadza led a dramatic protest at the Rainbow Towers hotel against Vice President Phelekezela Mphoko’s nearly two year stay at the luxury resort. Nehanda Radio
