Today was yet another eventful day. For the entire day, I was either at the lawyers or at the police.
I was called by Assistant Commissioner Makadenge this morning and he asked me to meet him and his team at central police station with regards the press statement I released yesterday. (See statement here)
I went to the police in the company of one of my lawyers, Kennedy Masiye but the leading lawyer who has been handling Itai’s matter, Lawyer Kwaramba could not make it on time since he was attending to a hearing.
We requested the police for the ‘meeting’ to be deferred to tomorrow morning. We will ‘meet’ them tomorrow at 9am.
Wherever this leads me, I am 100% prepared to deal with that. I can’t betray Itai and I can’t betray the revolution. I would rather take shots for Itai and for justice to prevail.
On the other hand, the press statement I released yesterday generated a lot of debate. I came across a lot of theories, conjectures, positions and of course analyses. It’s everyone’s right to think and say what they think about anything.
I however implore on anyone concerned to give me (us) time to work through this. This is not a simple matter and I actually need your support. We are dealing with this matter in stages. It has multiple tangents but we will get through.
I do not know why I am being asked by some people whether the image I released yesterday is Itai’s. I am sure that is what I stated in the statement. As a family we confirmed it is Itai’s image and the forensic experts confirmed too.
I wonder what is making some people ask me this irritating question, ‘is that really Itai’s image’. I wonder why they are asking the same person whose statement they didn’t believe? My request is this. Allow me (us) to go through this.
Everything shall be clear at the end of this process.
To all those who have shown me (us) support during this journey, I am eternally grateful to you. You are my heroes. A new and better Zimbabwe is inevitable.
Let justice prevail. #BBID
