Patson used the Independence Day Celebrations at the giant stadium to demand the whereabouts of his brother who was abducted by state security agents in March last year.

Members of the Central Intelligence Organisation (CIO) who guard President Mugabe assaulted Patson and took him to Harare Central Police Station, where he was released without charge and taken to a local private hospital.

Patson’s placard written “Independent But Not Free: Where is my brother Itai?” appeared to annoy state security agents at the stadium. His missing brother Itai was a thorn in the side of the Mugabe regime after countless demonstrations demanding the President step down and make way for a transitional government to fix the political and economic crisis.

There was more drama for Mugabe on Monday after an unidentified woman trailed the President to the VIP tent demanding her “share” of the missing $15 billion diamond money.

“You think I am mad? I am not mad. What makes you think I am mad? Why do you stop me? I could have followed the President for my share of the $15 billion. I am hungry. I need to buy maize,” the woman charged.

State security agents then manhandled and pressed her to the ground before whisking her out of the stadium where the Independence Day celebrations where taking place.
