Mukoko video causes stir

Ammara Brown and Tytan have released a video for their duet, Mukoko.

The video, posted on Youtube and Ammara’s Facebook page, has been well-received by music fans. So far the video has attracted over 25 000 views on You Tube.

Tytan, whose real name is Njabulo Nkomo, is delighted with the way the video has generated excitement.

“It was shot on the March 8 in Mbare. We want to speak to actual communities. There is a lot going on in communities. Mukoko is a love song. The video is basically about what people do to get someone,” he said.

In the video, Tytan will be courting Ammara, and ends up buying many honey jars from her tuckshop to get her attention. He does not know what to do with the jars and up distributing them to guys in the neighbourhood, making them assume its a love portion (mupfuhwira).

Critics have described the video’s picture quality as hazy but Tytan doesn’t agree.

“It’s not hazy. It’s by design and there is a proper term for it. It’s to give a nostalgic feel to the storyline. And also people are watching it on Facebook where it is compressed.

“The reception has been fantastic; there was so much pressure because many people were waiting for it,” said the 26-year-old.

He however, said that during the shoot they faced some weather challenges.

“It rained so we had to cut out some performance shots. It was choreographed by John Cole,” said Tytan. Daily News
