MASVINGO – Hotel proprietor, Eddison Zvobgo Junior has surrendered Ritz Night Club, Masvingo’s most popular night spot to his workers.
Zvobgo confirmed this in an interview with The Mirror on Monday.
“Yes we have rented out our three bars to different tenants and one of them was taken up by former employees. The ownership of the premises have not changed they remain our property,” said Zvobgo.
He also said the backyard garden which used to host shows would most probably be turned into a flea market.
“If there is no acceptable offer I am thinking of turning the garden bar into a flea market which will be leased to different clients,” said Zvobgo.
He also added that the idea to lease out the bars was prompted by the outstanding salaries which were owed to workers and were ballooning every month.
“There were outstanding salaries to employees and as a way of offsetting the balances we decided to lease out one of the bars to our workers as part of their termination benefits. The bar is being managed by the former manager Roy Gwese,” Zvobgo said.
When contacted for comment Gwese could not confirm or deny the arrangement. A number of revellers who talked to The Mirror expressed satisfaction towards the way the bar is now being run.
“Although I don’t know about that arrangement, the place looks refreshing and new as it has been renovated and the other bar is now operational which gives drinkers a wider selection of drinking places,” said Fushai Muonwa a patron. Masvingo Mirror
