HARARE – Sungura maestro Alick Macheso is reportedly seeking divine intervention at Prophet Walter Magaya’s Prophetic Healing Deliverance (PHD) Ministries in a bid to revive his seemingly waning music fortunes.

The revelation comes after the top musician failed to release an album in 2014 citing challenges in the completion of his own recording studio.

The development alienated him from most of his fans who were itching for new material.

Macheso, who used the platform to promise the release of his 10th album in the first quarter of 2015, seems to have noticed the ‘’fall out’’ with his fans and has sought new channels to his Maker for survival.

He publicly announced that he was heading to PHD Ministries, which is headed by Prophet Walter Magaya, apparently enticed by wife Nyadzisai who fellowships there.

If Macheso’s move materialises then he joins the long list of prominent artistes like Allan Chimbetu, Taso, Leonard Zhakata, Nicholas “Madzibaba” Zakaria who resorted to the man of God when their careers were making a downward slide. Magaya once formed a “match made in hell” alliance with dancer Beverley Sibanda which ended badly.

“I thank Prophet Magaya for taking care of Madzibaba Zakaria. I am also making my way there and I will be worshipping at his church soon,” said Macheso.

The “Tafadzwa” singer was speaking on the side-lines of Nicholas Zakaria’s 26th album launch that was recently held at Dandaro Inn.

He went on to shed tears in appreciation of the support from his mentor Zakaria which he said served as the conduit to his rise to stardom.

Macheso was the guest speaker at the album launch which was attended by top musicians and socialites.

Mutare-based businessman and music promoter Esau Mupfumi bought a copy of Madzibaba Zakaria’s new album “Rumbidzo for a whopping $2 000.

Mpufumi outbid embattled businessman-cum-musician Energy Mutodi who had pledged $1 300. Mutodi is embroiled in legal battles based on fraud allegations after he sold housing stands to thousands of people, mostly civil servants then reportedly squandered the money, leaving the contributors with no property and no money.

Macheso and Zakaria, who had not shared the stage in over five years, seem to have decided that they can make magic together again and the duo is scheduled to join forces in a show this Saturday in Mutare. The Herald
