HIGHLANDERS FC’s league match against relegated Chiredzi FC has been moved from tomorrow to Monday due to a rugby tournament at Hartsfield Grounds.

According to a fixtures’ list released by the Premier Soccer League yesterday, only two matches will be played today while the rest of the games will be played tomorrow.

Bosso and Chiredzi FC will play on Monday. How Mine has also been affected by the rugby tournament and will as a result play away at Mandava Stadium against Chapungu.

Highlanders will be hard pressed to collect maximum points. The team now trains twice instead of once with acting coach Mark Mathe saying this will give them more time to plug loopholes.

Technical director Cosmas Zulu has appealed to Bosso fans to rally behind the team.

“I am appealing to fans to give us a chance and rally behind the team as we are rebuilding because most of the players we have are past their peak,” said Zulu.

Mathe said he had warned players against being complacent if the team is to register a positive result against the lowveld team.

“Chiredzi have absolutely nothing to lose but everything to gain by beating Highlanders so we need to up our game,” said Mathe, who welcomes back speed merchant Gabriel Nyoni who picked up an injury while on national duty with the Under-23 in Swaziland a fortnight ago.

The Bosso coach who is yet to collect maximum points since taking over from Kelvin Kaindu, said Nyoni started full training and was likely to play on Monday.

Bantu Rover are on a high after shocking airmen Chapungu 3-2 at Ascot Stadium, their second away win after beating fellow strugglers Chiredzi 2-0.

Powermen ZPC Kariba could shoot to the top of the standings if they beat Harare City at Rufaro Stadium this afternoon but it depends on how Dynamos play against Bantu Rovers.

Harare City are however, a wounded buffalo after losing to Dynamos 3-5 on Wednesday and would want to get back to winning ways. What makes their situation precarious is that they are not safe from relegation so coach Masimba Dinyero must summon all his technical shrewdness and come up with a winning formula. Star forward Francisco Zvikumbawire will be key to the result. The Chronicle
