HARARE – Prophetic Healing and Deliverance Ministries (PHD) leader Walter Magaya on Monday gave ailing former Studio 263 actress Pretty Xaba $18 000 to undergo emergency surgery in India.

Xaba, who played the role of Mai Muwengwa in the first local soap, was diagnosed with cancer of the oesophagus last month. She needed at least $10 000 to undergo surgery in India.
Magaya had given Xaba an option to either choose to go for surgery or get spiritual healing.
“Xaba is a member of PHD Ministries and when she comes here for help, I gave her a choice either to receive money for her medication or to settle for spiritual healing here because some people are travelling from as far as India for spiritual healing,” Magaya told the Daily News yesterday.
The money was handed to Xaba’s family yesterday at PHD Ministries.
Tawonga Mafundikwa, coordinator of the ‘Lets Help Pretty Xaba Campaign’, was grateful to Magaya and PHD Ministries at large.
“I am so happy and grateful to Prophet Magaya and the entire PHD Ministries at large for coming to our rescue,” he said.
“We are happy that finally Xaba is leaving for India any day from now and we hope she will be fine.”
A couple of weeks ago, artistes held a benefit concert for Xaba at the Book Cafe. The event saw Jah Prayzah, Baba and Amai Charamba, Progress Chipfumo and BaShupi, among others, sharing the stage, but did not raise enough cash.
Xaba featured on a number of plays and dramas such as I want A Dress, Coliwe, Xola, Everyone’s Child, Studio 263 and Lobola, among others. Daily News
