Once again Highlanders saw their lead at the top of the log table being kept under check when they were edged by a determined Black Rhinos at Rimuka in a Castle Lager Premiership match here yesterday.

It was a morale snapping defeat for Bosso, coming ahead of their epic “Battle of Zimbabwe” against Dynamos at Barbourfields on Saturday.

A brilliantly executed goal by Lot Chiwunga in the 52nd minute suffocated visiting Highlanders as they saw Dynamos and ZPC Kariba catching up on 32 points.

Chiwunga’s goal helped to ease relegation worries in the army side and the goal was perfectly delivered as Chipembere propelled to their second victory in as many games.

It was sweet victory for Rhinos, considering that Highlanders won 3-0 at Rimuka last season.

In scoring the goal, Chiwunga picked a loose ball and the defenders retreated, giving him ample time to rifle from the edge of the box a grounder which took a deflection on a defender before beating Ariel Sibanda in goals for the visitors.

Black Rhinos coach Jostein Mathuthu-Mambo was naturally excited about the victory as they face Hippo Valley at Gibbo.

“I am over the moon because the boys played according to instructions.

“Highlanders is a big team and getting a win was not easy. I also salute the fans for rallying behind us,” said Mathuthu-Mambo.

But Highlanders coach Kelvin Kaindu was taking the defeat it its strides after two draws against How Mine and Bantu Rovers in previous games.

“To be honest with you it was a tough game and we lost to a good side and it’s very unfortunate that we did not utilise the chances that came our way. I don’t have any complaints with the turf,” said Kaindu.

On Sunday, Dynamos coach Callisto Pasuwa blamed the surface at Rimuka for their defeat. The Herald
