The programme returns  after a 10 -year hiatus and  the sponsors have resuscitated  the programme due to public demand.

It airs on Saturdays at 1900hrs and it premiered last week.  Mare was on point during her debut presentation.

In an interview with The Zimbabwe Mail,  Mare’s spokesperson Njabulo Tytan Nkomo said their camp was happy with the development.

“We are elated over this development and it’s a good sign when a major corporate like Coke recognises Cynthia (Mare)’s contribution into local arts sector,” Nkomo said.

Coke On the Beat has over the years been  presented by top personalities like Tich Mataz and Patricia Mabviko who were icons to young people.”

Mare has been on the rise since her return from the United Kingdom in 2013.

She launched her career there before deciding to relocate after the death of her mother and upon her return she has participated at major festivals like Harare International Festival of the Arts (Hifa) and she has also shared the stage with Steve Dyer – a renowned saxophonist.

Her wide knowledge of music  makes  her a perfect candidate for her new-found television role since the programme  will show local, regional and international music videos.

Meanwhile, Mare is recovering from a traumatic experience after she was mugged last week and lost her valuables.

The ‘smash and grab’ incident occurred while she was driving home from the studio. The Zimbabwe Mail
