The Kaizer Chiefs midfielder was recalled to the squad after apologising to Zimbabwe coach Ian Gorowa for missing the first leg to attend the PSL Awards ceremony, where Katsande was nominated for the PSL Footballer of the Season honour.
“I am happy to be back in the team. The coach has given me the chance to play again. I hope to do my best for the team,” says Katsande.
The 28-year-old is expected to take over from Dynamos’ Stephen Alimenda who played the defensive midfielder’s role in the first leg.
Katsande is one of the three foreign-based players including Libya-based Edward Sadomba and Belgium-based Ovidy Karuru who have been recalled into the team after missing the 1-0 defeat to the Taifa Stars. But another of Chiefs’ players, Kingston Nkhatha, has not been recalled.
Zimbabwe are desperate to qualify for the 2015 Nations Cup finals to be hosted by Morocco after failing to play in the past four editions in 2008, 2010, 2012 and 2013.
Should the Warriors overcome Tanzania they will face the winner of the game between Mozambique and South Sudan for that vital place in the group stages where Cape Verde, Niger and Zambia are waiting.
Mozambique carry a healthy 5-0 lead from the first leg against South Sudan. KickOff.com
