A Bulawayo woman, who last week busted her husband’s secret wedding with his pregnant lover after she pitched up unexpectedly while they were in the process of exchanging marriage vows, has lifted the lid on her stormy marriage to the ‘Injiva’ claiming he is a love rat.

Dorcas Tshuma who stopped her 34 year old South African based husband Nkosinqobile Mthunzi’s wedding with Sikhanyisiwe Kikins (38) at the Bulawayo Civil Court claimed that their customary marriage was still subsisting and alleged that Mthunzi was a serial sexual athlete who was going around siring children with different women.

She said Mthunzi was irresponsible and was failing to support his children. She went on to claim that she passionately tried to change his behaviour but to no avail.

Tshuma opened up at the Bulawayo Civil Court where Mthunzi had dragged her to annul their three year marriage claiming it had irretrievably broken down to the extent that there are no prospects of reconciliation.

The parties do not have any children together but Mthunzi, the alleged love rat, prayed that in the event of an order for dissolution of their unregistered union with Tshuma, he should be awarded all the household property in Zimbabwe while proposing that his ex-wife be given the property which is in South Africa.

On the proceeds from the sale of their house in Pumula South, Mthunzi said he should get a three quarter share because he contributed more towards purchasing of the immovable structure.

“I pray that I should be awarded a three quarter share of the house because I raised the money to buy it on my own. I was working in Durban, South Africa, while Dorcas was staying with her sister in Johannesburg and by that time we were just boyfriend and girlfriend. I paid lobola for her in December 2010,” he said.

In a hard-hitting response Tshuma, although admitting that their customary union had irretrievably broken down fired a salvo arguing that proceeds from the sale of the house should be shared equally as she also contributed while working as a waitress.

“I was working as a waitress and I contributed to the purchase of the house and for him to say I contributed very little, is not true. Where is the evidence to his claims? I think it is a deliberate ploy to make me lose out on my contribution and wasted years with him. He wants his new wife to ride on my successes.

“Mthunzi is very irresponsible and he is not playing his part in his children’s upkeep. When I came into his life, I found him with three children from different women. This shows that he is reckless in life. I tried to change him I failed.

“He was not doing anything useful with his money. He was spending his money on women. Mthunzi emotionally and physically abused me and the scars will forever live with me,” she indicated in her affidavit. B Metro
