Dendera musician Sulumani Chimbetu is today set to open his own bar. The joint, which was formerly called Chegutu Arms, has now been renamed Batai Munhu Sports Bar.
The opening ceremony will begin with some traditional dance displays by a nyau group from the Mashonaland West town. Chikwata 263 and dancer Beverly Sibanda are expected to perform before Sulu takes to the stage in the afternoon.
Sulu said the bar was one of his investments set to complement his music career.
“Musicians usually make a mistake of not investing when they still have the income and this has been a problem for many when they fall from grace,” he said.
“This is one of the investments that are set to complement income from my music. We do not have to solely depend on music because fortunes in the industry are never predictable.
“I will still be concentrating more on my music since I have a strong team to manage the bar to avoid dividing my attention between music and the business. I hope to host many other fellow musicians at this bar. We have renovated it to make it a good place for shows and general outing.”
