COVENTRY, UK – A 30-YEAR-OLD man has been charged with murder following the death of a Zimbabwean man who fell from the eighth floor of a flat in the Stoke area of the city last week.
Edwin Mazorodze, a Coventry resident since 2004, was spotted lying in the road at around 11.23 last Wednesday and was pronounced dead in hospital shortly after midnight.
A murder investigation was immediately launched and following fast-track enquiries by officers a 39-year-old suspect presented himself at a police station in the city at around 11am Thursday.
Police have now charged unemployed Younis Masih, 39, from Eden Street in the city, with murder and he first appeared before Coventry magistrates on Monday.
“We are all still in shock over what has happened,” said the family of the 30-year-old Zimbabwean victim.
“Eddie was a much loved son and brother who will be greatly missed by all his family. We are trying to come to terms with this shocking and terrible news.”
Detectives continue to investigate the circumstances of his death and are appealing for anyone with information who has not spoken to police to call Force CID on 101 or alternatively information can be given to Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111. Coventry Observer
