A married Gutu woman chased away by her husband after disclosing that her baby was sired by a neighbour drank poison and died at the boyfriend’s place in Ruzive Village under Chief Munyikwa’s area.
Masvingo Provincial Police spokesperson Inspector Peter Zhanero confirmed the incident. The matter took another nasty turn after the death of Tecklar Tachiona (41) when the husband, Poso Muchadondera (56) refused to have his wife buried at his place.
He demanded that she should be buried at Bernard Dzikamisa’s (31) place as he was the ‘new’ boyfriend and baby’s father. As a result, Tecklar’s body spent five days in the mortuary as police and traditional chiefs battled to break the impasse.
Circumstances leading to the suicidal drama are that Tecklar and her neighbour Dzikamisa of Dzondodzai area were having an extra marital affair without the knowledge of the husband Muchadondera.
Tecklar fell pregnant and the baby turned out to be Dzikamisa’s baby. The boyfriend had agreed to take care of his baby but after the baby was born he chickened out. Tecklar then decided to confess everything and therefore told her husband that he was not the one who had impregnated her.
Forty one-year-old Tecklar who only stayed with her 31-year-old boyfriend for two days after being chased by her husband drank poison and died. The matter was reported to the police and the boy was taken to the mortuary where it spent six days.
The boyfriend and the husband began to argue over whose place would be used to bury the cheating woman. After a chain of massive consultations and kangaroo meetings, the woman’s body was eventually buried at her husband’s place, who was 15 years older than her.
