Freeman Chizanga comes of age

YOU reap what you sow. The above adage best describes the musical journey and experience of fast-rising dancehall chanter Emergy Freeman Chizanga.

Freeman has been on the music scene since 2010, but he only came into the limelight in 2012 following the release of his hit song “Joina City”, which topped the charts for more than three weeks.

He has not looked back yet and is reputable of releasing hit after his in a space of two weeks. The Tynwald-based chanter who celebrated his 25th birthday recently has finally come of age with a five-member band called The Dangerzone.

The “Dancehall Doctor” as Freeman is now popularly known in the music circles said he wanted to graduate from performing using CDs to a live band and will soon resume live shows.

“This music game is never easy to play. Every time when you want to get international recognition you find out that performing using a CD is a non-starter. That is the reason why I decided to form a live band,” he said.

“I am not saying those who are still using CDs are not musicians, but only time shall tell. Zvangu zvave zvemberi Dangerzone Live Band musatibate,” beamed Freeman.

Fame and money has not yet got into the musician’s head who is in the studio promoting his fellow mates such as Jay C, Pringo Spice, Crystal, Magical and Vivian. Freeman is the co-founder of a stable called the Dangerzone side that is doing well in the dancehall scene.

He is grooming quite a number of artistes and roping them under his belt in most of his local shows. When it comes to shows, the “Joina City” hitmaker had he time of his life following successful tour of the UK.

Freeman rose to fame with hit songs such as “Unondipa Rudo”, “Joina City”, “Dancehall Doctor” and he is doing well with current hit songs, “Vapfumi Pembe” and “Handina Godo”. The Dangerzone will certainly contribute to Freeman’s meteoric rise.
