DRC reptile delicacy

Cold Storage Commission

“I am surprised ministers parading so called indigenisation of firms. Since government took over control of business at Cold Storage Commission things fell apart. CSC is in worse crisis, workers in various branches have gone for almost a year without salaries, others more than one year except for its head office where they have few months unpaid.The situation is becoming worse.

In Harare branch they are earning rentals from company property of which three quarters is being consumed by managers only who are up to date.The rest of its workers at that branch have gone for almost a year back log of salaries yet the branch is earning something from property which can pay three quarters of each worker and variable costs as well.

There is no electricity on three quarters of CSC branches. Marondera branch the situation is worse as compared to all branches. There is no life at CSC Marondera. Bulawayo the main headquarters is earning from service slaughters, the same to Masvingo, Chinhoyi.

So indigenise but the result is clear the companies will fall like CSC, Zisco, Zesa, Zupco once the investor vanishes. Government is not controlling the running of these organisations. Managers are looting and crippling the firms. The situation is affecting general workers. They are in poverty yet management is enjoying better life.”

ZESA pre-paid meters 

“Why did Zesa put zvima prepaid meters zvavo when they were not ready kuti vanhu vatenge magetsi any time even weekends. Chavo kuda kuona vanhu vakazara pamaoffice avo vanho vachidhiza paline kuavoida malong queues.

Corruption along Luveve Road 

“I saw your post talking about the corruption being done by traffic cops at Luveve Raod fly over (Bulawayo). Guys it is just more than a tollgate itself but the only surprising thing is that these kombi drivers and hwindis seems to enjoy it. Most omnibuses operating along Luveve Road are just not roadworth and the drivers are just touts who do not even have a class 4 driver’s licence. The so called anti corruption must do something to eradicate this.”

Zimasco Sino Steel 

“Zimasco Sino Steel company refuses to pay its employees an agreed 7 percent backdated January 2013. It also has a backlog of another 7 percent backdated January 2012. They are said to have applied for exemption since 2011, but although they could not get this they implemented the system.

Workers were put on forced rotational leave being paid 50 percent of their salary. Imagine someone taking home US$50 per month. We thought the Unions would intervene but to no avail. Wagons of Chrome ore are railed day and night.

To our vision as workers the company is intimidating workers since its a China owned company they are the government themselves. Gentlemen we are starving here in this Chinese owned company. Are there any Unions out there? Please help since we pay our subscriptions.”

Mbare Flats 

“All flats in Mbare have had no electricity for the past three weeks. This has enhanced or increased risks of theft.”

Zaka District 

“There is a lot of corruption and nepotism in the Ministry of Education here in Zaka District. There is a lot of favour in choosing teachers who are taking part in National Programmes which have monetary rewards.

The people who took part in Census, took part in voter education towards the referendum elections, the referendum elections, those same people are taking part is voter registration and definitely they will take part in the coming harmonised elections.

These teachers are leaving children unattended during this period while at the same reaping the monetary rewards just because many of them are connected. This should stop.”

War Vets have been on strike for 2 weeks

“War vets have been striking for the past two weeks. At first they were at 4th street Zanu PF offices then at Zanu PF HQ and were driven to Koala park near Chitungwiza. Since then they are surviving on food handouts from well wishers.

There is no drinking water or toilets at the site they haven’t bathed since they went there. I can see a serious health hazard ikoko coz vakawandisa all provinces. No one is coming to address them they got promises daily.

Their grievience is money. They only got their monthly allowances for few months, many months ago, about $80 each and yakazongostopper up to now nothing.

Can someone pliz address them and dismiss them to their homes pane kugara kunge mhuka musango. Soon they will start stealing our chickens here. Did they not get the farms? Till when should they survive on handouts from the government?”

National ID crisis in Zimbabwe 

“Many people are failing to take national identity cards in zimbabwe. It is not reasonable to say “tinoda birth certificate first” pakuti munhu achinje chitupa chebepa kana chiri defaced.kuvanhu wakarasa mabirth certificates this cost a lot as they would have to travell long distances kuti wandopihwa birth kwaakaritorera.

The Registra’s Office should have lasting solutions to this problem so that every Zimbabwean is given a chance to vote. For example munhu ari bulawayo anonzi enda kwaMutare instead of the Bulawayo office to phone confirming if the birth entry number is known. Izvi zviri nyore kuti unobva wapihwa birth rako uye chitupa that same time. Kuomeserwa kuri kuitwa vanhu kuzvitupa ndizvo zviri kukudza huori. We all want to register to vote now.”

Shamva, Zanu PF intimidation

“In Shamva, Wadzanayi Township Zanu PF people are moving door to door getting peoples ID numbers especially the aliens telling them that they are going to register them and they must stay at home their registration receipts will be delivered to them. Nothing is done by the end of the day and you remain unregistered. This is done to stop the aliens, who are the majority in the area, from voting for the party of their choice. Pliz do something about this.”

Corruption at National Employment Offices

“There is also organised corruption at National Employment offices Corner Rudd Street and Nehanda Street. Although the so called anti corruption team visited the place a few months ago.

The corruption is so serious that job seekers are paying lots to get mabasa in government. Women are being asked for sex to get jobs. The corruption is so serious that in involves everyone at the place, from the boss to the vendors.

ZRP Support Unit, Buchwa

“People in ZRP Support Unit Camp, Buchwa, were all compelled to converge in Simbi Stadium (a football ground) by high ranking officials and were told that there must know where to vote. Everyone was compelled to attend that meeting to my horror. Ini pekuvhotera ndopaziva and I need no reminder.”

Delta Beverages

“I am a worker @ Delta Beverages southern region. What surprises me the most is my company is good @ sponsoring and donating, whilst workers are rotting in poverty.

Worse still they are posting a lot of profits but they can’t afford to award their tireless workforce which is languishing in poverty when the management is enjoying that is grade D n above.

The company is not even willing to award a pay rise after having profits of about 100 million and they keep on saying we are recapitalising while the worker who works doesn’t have anything to benefit.

All social benefits are now for management and they even went to banks to deny us personal loans and other credit facilities. There is no morale @ all in the workforce of the corporation I tell you.”

NRZ saga

“NRZ has slashed our salaries by 50% promising to pay us on a fixed date. It is now 2 months since they have done that but they are failing to pay us.

What worries us is that as we are staying at the company flats in Bulawayo near Raylton Club, they have since increased rentals from $50 per room to $145 per room. They slashed our salaries by half and increased their rentals. Kuitawo here uku?”

Renco Mine

“I was touched by this Nyambirai TN salary issue. I’m also in agony I’m an employee of Matonjeni, a food n beverage Company which Nyambirai came and bought shares partnering Mayer Mangeya. But since February we haven’t received a cent and we were told to go on leave coz the Company is failing to acquire operating Capital after TN Bank was taken over by Masiyiwa of Econet. Up to now we haven’t received a word from our Management. Kuitawo here isu tashanda tichiita mari..masales tichiita..makore atashanda odii?”

TN Manufacturing

“l work at TN Manufacturing that is owned by Tawanda Nyambirai. What is happening at our company is this man is now abusing us. By now we are earning 80% of my salary cause we are working 4 days per last months were we were earning 60% of which you can’t pay rent, bills and you can’t buy food. This month up to now there is no pay. Landlord tomutii chii apa ari kungovhura magrill tatambura wedu weee.”

Mbire District

“Hide I.D plz! ndingazotadziswa kunovhotesa. In Mbire district today, the District Administrator sent out text msgs to ALL Headmasters saying that all teachers who did not contribute a $1 each towards last April’s Independence Day Celebrations will not be considered for secondment to ZEC for the upcoming election. What it simply means is that many will be left out thus creating room for youth officers and ‘others’ who will carry out their duties under strict instructions from we-know-where. Zvakaoma zvakaomarara!”

Ziscosteel

“After 15 months without getting paid the Ziscosteel management has promised to pay the Zisco workers a magnificent 40 dollars to cater for accumulated school fees, rental, medical debts and day to day expenses this Thursday. What more can we ask for from our leaders for they surely have us the people at heart. Lets vote them into power for another four years of empowerment!!”

Chipadze High Density area in Bindura

“Chipadze High Density area in Bindura we are tired of long periods of ZESA load shedding of which our neighbourhood Aerodrome is receiving electricity all the time. Are benefits of electricity allocated according to the level of social classes? Shall we the poor continue to suffer? Leaders need to show their professionalism and balance the few resources that we have cause we are all Zimbabweans!!”

Zimsec mistakes 

“Zimbabwe Schools Examination Council (ZIMSEC) awarded a grade F to a very good student from Mashonaland East Province and other five very good students from Kutama College, Mashonaland West Province. (Computing at Advanced Level for the 2012 examinations.)

The parents of the concerned students asked for a re-mark and it was shocking to discover that a computing error had been committed by ZIMSEC. The six candidates had actually scored A grades in the examination. Many a time, ZIMSEC has argued that their standards are world class standards, what do they have to say now?”

South Africa asylum seekers

“I am extremely disturbed by Pretoria’s (SA) decision to suspend the issuance of asylum documents to foreign nationals seeking asylum in this country. Only nationals from the D.R.C were allowed in the Home Affairs offices for the asylum document.

This comes barely 48 hours after the controversial interview of Robert Mugabe on S.A.B.C last Sunday. Emotions have run high as most people criticised this as a Public Relations image for the ‘ailing dictator.’

Whether it is mere coincidence or not, Zimbabweans have been told they don’t qualify for asylum because ‘There is no war in Zimbabwe’ hence the justification to give asylum to the Congolese.There are also claims that there is a conspiracy to deny the Zimbabweans asylum, so that they can be deported in time for the forthcoming poll. Whichever way, Zimbos will continue to struggle in a place far away from home.”

Fort Hare University 

“I wish you could publish this so that parents could know. Students on presidential scholarship at Fort Hare University are only getting 300 rands per month and its not sustainable since meals in the dining cost at least 30 rands per meal.

Male students are the worst hit at least girls can get boyfriends who can assist. Please parents for these students should be notified so that they can send their children money to survive. Fees even for last year is not paid and the University has given up on helping those on the scholarship.

The president used to lie that this money is coming from him hence the program was benefiting ZANU linked kids and a few with poor backgrounds especially former Marange High students because of Chris Mushowe the patron of the program. Mushohwe also gives his girlfriends the scholarship for example Nyasha Chatikobo, Anna Chatindo and many more.

People of Zimbabwe thought this was a presidential program yet it was a Zimbabwean government program with money being printed by Gono a development which changed when Biti clipped Gono’s wings and said the president should fund his program since its his personal and Zanu PF project.

Its a sorry state at Fort Hare of which I believe its happening in other universities. Students can’t say anything since Mushowe, Abysinia Mushunje and Amon will take away their chances of obtaining tertiary education. Thank you.”

Corruption along Luveve Road

“Corruption along Luveve road in Bulawayo, just after the flyover continues unabated. The officers manning the road block collect more than they need at the ”toll gate”. The drivers will go to a madam officer as if they want to pay a fine and when they shake hands, she will be receiving the money. Can something be done there.”

Accidents in Mutoko
