Five Zambians have died while several others sustained serious injuries when the bus they were on overturned about 103 Kilometres from Bulawayo, Zimbabwe. Sixteen others have been discharged from the hospital.
This is contained in a press statement issued by Zambia Police Service Deputy Public Relations Officer Mrs Charity Munganga-Chanda.
“The Marcopolo bus registration no. ALG 8249, belonging to Mtsuni Bus Services, was coming from South Africa to Lusaka via Zimbabwe. The injured have been admitted at St Lukes and Mpilo hospitals in Hwange (and Bulawayo) while the bodies of the deceased are lying in the mortuary at the same hospitals.” She said
She said that “the accident happened on 25th November 2012, around 01:00 hours and more details will be released when we receive a comprehensive report from Zimbabwean Police.” Zambia Watchdog
