Mavurayi (29) from Waterfalls was jet-skiing in his boat when it collided with another one coming from the opposite direction at high speed. After his boat overturned, Mavurayi drowned while four other occupants he was on board with were rescued with minor injuries.

Body viewing was conducted on Tuesday in the afternoon as soon as some of his relatives touched down from their UK base and the body was then ferried to Masvingo, where Boss Sheu as he was known, was buried.

Speaking on the sidelines of the church service one of Boss Sheu’s closest friends and popular city dealer, Brighton Bako who was with him on the fateful day at Lake Chivero, emotionally narrated the incident.

He expressed shock as he relived the horrific experience saying “lighties are dying young it hurts, but it seems the signs were there because he was acting funny on the day. He would pass on strange comments that were not like him.

“His jet-ski was very powerful and he was speeding just behind the speed boat that was carrying the four people. He caught up with them but I think the driver panicked and swerved a bit, Sheu tried to avoid hitting the boat but he couldn’t and he hit the boat.

“When his body was retrieved we tried mouth resuscitation but his eyes were rolling and he had consumed a lot of water and punctured his lungs. It was so painful to watch my young hommie going man; but such is life,” said Bako.
