The dancehall sensation was travelling with her manager Hillary “Punchline” Mutake, her boyfriend DJ Stayera and Mutake’s brother Grant. Three of them sustained serious injuries with Mutake suffering a broken neck. Speaking to the Daily News, Mutake narrated the painful ordeal.

“We were on our way from a show in Shamva, headed to Mabvuku for another show. Then there were these kids who were racing along the road and they overtook us. All of a sudden one driving a Mercedes Benz made a U-turn in front of us and we hit him on the middle of the car.”

“I tried to avoid him but I later realised that he was drunk and they were doing a silly race on the road. Lady Squanda was sitting on the front passenger seat and suffered some head injuries,” he said. Mutake said after police arrived on the scene they discovered that the boy was underage and drunk.
