Hosts Zimbabwe look in control of this tie already even though we are in effect only at quarter-time so far. Angola will need an away goal and stop the Warriors extending their lead here if they are to keep themselves in the hunt for a place at the Nations Cup next year.

GOAL!!! Zimbabwe 1-0 Angola

From Sports Minister David Coltart “Looking forward to supporting the Zimbabwe Warriors against Angola this afternoon with Kirsty Coventry and the Zimbabwe Cricket team at Rufaro.”

Zimbabwe plunge into their penultimate qualifier for the 2013 African Cup of Nations at Rufaro with coach Rahman Gumbo calling on the Warriors to stand up and be counted. Gumbo is well aware of the pressure that has been bottling up for the squad in the build-up to this match and barred his players from talking to the local media.

This match at Rufaro is the biggest in profile since the two Cosafa members last met in the 2006 World Cup/Nations Cup qualifiers. The Palancas Negras of Angola have qualified for the 2006 World Cup and were the 2010 Nations Cup hosts while Zimbabwe have struggled to make a mark.
