Mushekwi has been at the German side for the past week and now appears set to put pen to paper provided the two teams can agree the transfer fee. The big forward underwent a medical yesterday and passed, which is usually an indication of a done deal, and could soon be joining Knowledge Musona in the Bundesliga.

Musona penned a five-year deal with TSG Hoffenheim from Kaizer Chiefs last season and has since been loaned to FC Augsburg. He scored his first goal for his new team last weekend and Warriors’ coach, Rahman Gumbo, has been trying to persuade the striker to end his international sabattical.

Musona took a break from the Warriors after he was accused of match-fixing by Zifa chief executive Jonathan Mashingaidze. Mushekwi, who is also on the sidelines from the Warriors, has also been linked to Belgian club Standard Liege and English Championship outfit Sheffield Wednesday.

France-based Zimbabwean agent Ralph Nkomo, who is Mushekwi’s manager, yesterday revealed that the former CAPS United hitman had passed his medical at the Germany club. “He’s here and passed his medical. The club are now in the middle of preparing a proposal to sign him,” Nkomo told Soccer-Laduma.

It is believed Sundowns are holding out for a fee of around R10 million for the forward. Greuther Further is a German club based in Furth, Bavaria, and they have won the German championship on three occasions. The Herald
