Kirsty Coventry reaches 200m backstroke final

Zimbabwe swimming sensation, Kirsty Coventry, qualified for the Women’s 200 metres Backstroke finals at the London Olympics after finishing second in Heat 2 of the semi-finals on Thursday in the evening. Coventry qualified with the 6th best time.

Zanu PF still in deadlock over new constitution

Robert Mugabe’s Zanu PF party remained deadlocked on whether to accept a new draft constitution that trims the powers of the President. Wednesday’s meeting of the Politburo was the third such meeting to discuss the draft. The meeting ended late last night.

Beleaguered Zapu sells cattle to pay rent

Cash-strapped Zapu has resolved to sell some of its donated cattle to settle its $15 000 rental arrears after the High Court last week gave the Messenger of Court the green light to attach the party’s property if the debt remains unpaid.
