BULAWAYO giants Highlanders returned to their winning ways when they overcame battling Gunners in a Castle Lager Premier Soccer League match at Lafarge on Wednesday to maintain their grip on top of the log table.

Bosso, who had not won a match in their last three outings, bagged full points courtesy of an own goal by Chando Kupisa defender Moses Demera.
Highlanders had last won a match in May when they beat Shabanie Mine 2-0 and coach Kelvin Kaindu, although he was not entirely satisfied by his side’s performance, believes the victory was the tonic they needed following a run of three draws in their last games.
The Zambian coach said the win over Gunners will set them on the right footing ahead of their showdown with CAPS United at Barbourfields on Sunday.
“It wasn’t one of our best performances, maybe because of the condition of the pitch but it is very important because we had gone for three games without winning.
“I think this has given us the advantage (ahead of the CAPS United game) and I believe it has taken us back to where we were at the beginning of the season,” said Kaindu.
Highlanders are now four points clear at the summit with 28 points from 12 games and are yet to taste defeat following a flying start to their campaign this season.

Dynamos……………………………….…(0)1
Basement side Quelaton matched their more illustrious opponents Dynamos man for man but still fell by a solitary goal in a lively Castle Lager Premier Soccer League encounter at Luveve on Wednesday.

Former Njube Sundowns player, David Kutyauripo scrambled a header off an Ocean Mushure corner kick, five minutes after the breather to send the predominantly DeMbare crowd into a frenzy as they suddenly realised that victory was possible.
Their stubborn hosts had shut them out for the entire first half, save for a few individual moments of brilliance from Orlando Pirates-bound striker Takesure Chinyama.
CAPS United……………………………….…(1)1
Black Mambas……………………………….(1)1
Edmore Sibanda struck his third goal of the season to salvage a point for CAPS United but the big goalkeeper was rushed to hospital moments later after he had a concussion when he hit the bar in a Castle Lager Premiership match against Black Mambas at Rufaro on Wednesday.
Sibanda converted from the spot after the Green Machine had found themselves trailing the police side early in the game. The match, which was short on goals but full of incidents, also marked the return of former Warriors striker Shingi Kawondera who showed he is still a notch ahead of the local players with some fine touches.

With the fans barely seated, Black Mambas forward Kasimero Chimbadzwa gave his team an early lead when his drive hit the bar and got a deflection off goalkeeper Sibanda before sailing into the nets.
Sibanda, was then injured in the 38th minute causing a 15-minute delay before he was rushed to the hospital, while forward Washington Pakamisa followed suit in the 79th minute when he collided with Tendai Chinungo and again suffered a concussion as the paramedics were kept busy the whole afternoon.
Referee Pedzisai Chadya also had a busy afternoon with five CAPS United players — Sibanda, Evans Gwekwerere, Washington Pakamisa, Tawanda Munyanduri and Rahman Kutsanzira being cautioned while Sam Mutenheri, Kasimero Chimbadzwa, Convenience Hungwe and Tendai Chinungwa also got into the referee’s book.
