Bonzo escapes house fire with minor burns

CHITUNGWIZA- Veteran actor and former radio presenter, Lawrence “Bonzo” Simbarashe escaped with some burns after fire gutted his house in St Mary’s, Chitungwiza, destroying property worthy thousands of dollars.

Wednesday the 7th of December will be a day veteran entertainer, Simbarashe of the Timmy na Bonzo fame will never forget. For on this fateful day, almost all he had toiled for in his life was destroyed after his house was gutted down by fire.

It is not known how the fire started though it is suspected that a candle could have caused it. When ZBC News visited the scene of the fire, Simbarashe’s family had not yet come to terms with the tragedy and was unsure as to what exactly had transpired.

Mdara Bonzo, as Simbarashe is affectionately known in the entertainment circles, was in a state of confusion. Also destroyed by the fire were priced possessions from friend and fellow actor in the popular Timmy na Bhonzo comedy, Timothy Tapfumaneyi. The fire is suspected to have started around midnight.

Neighbours came to the rescue of the Simbarashe family but most of the property had already been destroyed. A delegation from the Minister of Media, Information and Publicity, Webster Shamu, headed by Ajusa Tabarara came to assess the damage and later took Simbarashe to hospital. ZBC News
