Teenager arrested for stealing panties

Female employees at National Parks and Wildlife resident at Lake Chivero are living in fear of a 15-year-old accused of stealing their knickers for suspected ritual purposes. According to some victims, the boy, who attends a school in Zvimba District, would steal the panties for suspected sex rituals.

“The story came to light after he was caught stealing from one of the employees. “That person then lodged a complaint with the police resulting in the boy being arrested. “He was taken for questioning at Glanara police post where he even produced a bucket full of panties stolen from different people.

“He also confessed that some of the panties were stashed in ant hills around the Lake as part of the ritual purposes,” alleged sources. Others however think the boy has a panty fetish and probably sniffs at the ‘sweet’ smell of the crack areas to satisfy his weird sexual craving. Underwear fetishism of the nature displayed by the boy can be a popular paraphilia.

Underwear fetishism is a well known condition particularly in Western and sex craving countries. The boy started staying in the area with his stepmother in 2009 and is suspected to be the one who stole the panties of the school children who had come in the area for a National Parks Tournament in 2009.

“In 2009 some children came for a sports tournament and lost their panties and we suspect that he is the one who took them,” added the sources. They also said that people started missing their underwear a long time ago but they were afraid to come out into the open fearing the boy’s family’s strong belief in the gule cult (Nyau culture).

“He is staying with his mother’s sister and her husband who are of Malawian origin. “The boy’s parents passed away some years ago. “I knew his mother, she was a single parent. The family has got a strong belief in the gule tradition Nyau culture.” Vanhu vaingotya kuvagumbura nekuti manyasarandi!

“His uncle is in his 60s and is the leader of the gule cult (Nyau dancers) in this area. “That is why many people were afraid to confront the boy or his guardians,” sources said. The guardian (name supplied) yesterday, confirmed that the boy (name withheld by virtue of his age) is known for being a serial underwear thief and even admitted to the offence.

“I had gone with my husband for treatment and when I came back Watson Mapiki (whose wife’s pants had been stolen) came here accompanied by police officers with the child,” said the guardian. She however, was angry with the way he was treated when he was made to go and unearth his series of treasure troves of stained, sweaty smelly panties of different shapes, sizes and colours.

“I was unhappy with the way he was treated. They forced him to lead them to where he had stashed the under-garments. “I am prepared to buy new ones for them because the ones I saw were worn out and old. “They starved my child after they caught him and he was even cruelly treated at the hands of the police,” said the guardian.

The young boy admitted that he took the panties but denied that they were for ritual purposes. “I was ill-treated before leading them to where I had hidden the panties but it was not for ritual purposes. “They tied my hands and poured cold water on me before putting the panties over my head all the while scolding me.

“I was then tied in a bus and slept there overnight but I took only 3 panties. “I am sorry to whoever was affected. “I failed to sit for a Science Paper 2 exam because of the incident and I am hesitating to attend school because of that incident,” said the boy. One of the victims brave enough to speak, a middle-aged woman who identified herself as Mapiki is worried after recovering only one out of 4 of her missing panties and bra.

“I am worried over my missing bra and one of my panties after we recovered 3 and he admitted in front of the police that he had sex with the panties he collected,” said Mapiki. According to Mapiki, it seems the young boy has a fetish with female panties and it was highly likely that he used them to masturbate. Mapiki says the boy confessed to her that whenever he would masturbate with a pair of panties he would be visualising the owner of the panties as he climaxed in his ‘joyful’ one man hand job!

One would ponder as to whether the women whose panties were stolen should rejoice at being found attractive by a younger chap and whether those who never missed any pair of panties should be worried about their unappealing figure no less! Watson is suggesting that the guardians have to take the boy somewhere because his sexual behaviour was risky and it exposed their children to more grave attacks like rape.

“They must take him to a better place where he can receive help because we fear for our children that he might rape them. “If he can enjoy having sex with panties he can also victimise our children,” said Watson. Investigations by H-Metro revealed that the boy’s stepfather is bedridden and terminally ill with “prostate cancer”.

He is reportedly facing problems in urinating and has since last relieved himself several months ago. National Parks and Wildlife communications manager Caroline Washaya-Moyo said that if indeed the justice delivery system proves that the minor was guilty, then he really needs help. “If it is proven in the court of law that this young man is indeed guilty of the allegations then I would suggest that psychologists come in and assist him.

“It simply means he needs help,” said Caroline. The boy lives in premises under the jurisdiction of the National Parks and Wildlife, who through Ms Washaya -Moyo are concerned primarily for him as he has what may be a serious psychological problem and of course the reputation of their pristine tourist area.
