Police Commissioner Augustine Chihuri once said "This country came through blood and the barrel of the gun and it can never be re-colonised through a simple pen, which costs as little as five cents,” Chihuri told junior officers, back from a trip he sponsored to the national liberation shrines in Mozambique.

There was also added drama as police also arrested four Bulawayo based journalists who had gone to Ntabazinduna to cover the eviction. Freelance journalists Oscar Nkala, Pamenous Tuso, Pindai Dube and Nqobani Ndlovu who works for the privately owned Standard newspaper were arrested around midday.

Initially the four were held at Ntabazinduna but were moved to another police station, believed to be Mbembezi.

Only recently Army Brigadier General Douglas Nyikayaramba made statements to the effect that Mugabe should rule forever and the army would not support anyone else. He even claimed Prime Minister Morgan Tsvangirai was a national security threat and that is why the army was involving itself in politics. Nehanda Radio.com
