Promoter hits back at Stunner over SK flop

By Costa Mano

The promoter of the Sean Kingston show, Clint Robinson, has taken a swipe at Stunner for the latter’s comments on the alleged treatment he received during Sean Kingston’s disappointing show in April.

Stunner raised the ire of Robinson of C&A Management after he complained about being put up in a tent while the “Somebody Call 911” hit- maker was lounging on the balcony. Stunner is said to have called Kingston a “college performer”. C&A are promoting Elephant Man’s showdown with Winky D at Glamis Arena.

“I must say I was very disappointed with Stunner because he can’t expect to be treated the same way as an international superstar. Sean Kingston has sold over a million records and you call him a college performer, how many has he (Stunner) sold?” said Mr Robinson.

He said he was betrayed by Stunner because he was the first promoter to put up billboards, where local artistes were appearing side by side with the international icon, two months before the concert.

“Even if you go to the police, the commissioner’s office is bigger than his constable’s, that’s just the way things are. I was the first promoter to give these guys their own Press conferences and all forms of advertising.

“The reason why you see other artistes like Cindy and Winky D stepping up to the plate is because they’re professionals and a pleasure to work with,” said Mr Robinson. Stunner saw it differently though, saying he only wanted better conditions for local performers while maintaining that Kingston was a poor act.

“Don’t get me wrong, I was not happy with being pushed around. Just because Sean (Kingston) wanted to pass through, we were all shoved aside to make way for him. The promoters were on point and I really don’t have a problem with their organisation of the event, my issue was with the performance.

I was in France recently but I didn’t tell people to move over so I could pass through,” said Stunner.

He added that he is a better performer than Kingston and if it is indeed true that he was sidelined for the upcoming show he could not care less.

“ZveShow iyo muJama handina kana dhiri nayo, ndezvemarasta (I really don’t care about not performing at the show it’s for Rastafarians),” said Stunner.
