Nox comes knocking down to earth

By Nigel Pfunde

South Africa-based urban groover, Enoch “Nox” Guni who recently grabbed headlines for the wrong reasons, seems to have gone back to the basics! He has now refocused and redirected his creative energy on his number one passion- music.

This was proved by his dramatic rise to the top of the local music charts last week. Nox came from behind and topped the Power FM charts on Friday. His song Andipengesa (featuring Maskiri) off his latest album Zim’s Finest Tisu: Tine Yese has caused commotion on the airwaves and it was voted as the Number One record on last week’s Power FM Top 10 countdown.

It has been holding fort on the charts for the past one month where it fluctuated in commendable positions. This Power FM chart show is one of the premier chart shows on local radio and coming out tops is a reflection of an artiste’s popularity and appreciation from the fans.

In an interview with H-Metro, Nox’s Zimbabwe manager Howard Baude expressed his pleasure with the performance of his artiste’s album on the charts. He however, wished that it will also translate into record sales.

“The performance is great because we put so much effort and money in the production and we hope the sales will also be boosted,” said Baude.

“The song Andipengesa has proved to be a great hit taking the top position competing with even the newly-released international songs. It’s a great love jam with some dancehall flavour in it; his combination with Maskiri on this album has proved to be great force to reckon with because there is also another hit off the same album, which has made it on the charts entitled Handichina Basa Newe. I appreciate the love that Zimbabwe is giving to us,” added Baude.

Nox is set to reclaim his position as one of the country’s top crooners as long as he sticks to one partner and stays away from controversy! H Metro
